In 2005, we opened The Kaplan Family Hospice House
.  Your generous support helped make that innovation a reality. As the first licensed hospice inpatient facility in Massachusetts, it has become an invaluable resource for the community in a very short period of time.  Nearly 2,000 patients have received expert end-of-life care, advanced pain and symptom management, spiritual support, family workshops and respite care services at the Kaplan House.

Today, we prepare to meet a growing need.  Since it opened in 2005, The Kaplan Family Hospice House has operated at or near full capacity.  Often there is a waiting list for the twelve patient suites. Expansion is now necessary to continue to keep the promise we made so many years ago.

In 2009, we will begin construction of a new wing which will house eight new patient suites.  These additional rooms, with corresponding staff increases, will help to reduce waiting list times, and ensure that those who need advanced, expert end-of-life care are able to get it when they need it.

Our timing has never been more critical.  Our patients' need for care is urgent.  They often do not have the time to wait for a bed to become available.  Our unwavering dedication to our compassionate mission is essential.

Now more than ever, we are asking for your generous support. Philanthropic contributions will provide much of the funding needed for the expansion of the Kaplan House.  With your help, the new wing will become reality.
