In 2005, we opened The Kaplan Family Hospice House.  Your generous support helped make that innovation a reality. As the first licensed hospice inpatient facility in Massachusetts, it has become an invaluable resource for the community in a very short period of time.  Nearly 2,000 patients have received expert end-of-life care, advanced pain and symptom management, spiritual support, family workshops and respite care services at the Kaplan House.

Since it opened in 2005, The Kaplan Family Hospice House has operated at or near full capacity.  Often there is a waiting list for the twelve patient suites. Expansion became necessary to continue to keep the promise we made so many years ago.

The Ayer Anderson Wing adds 8 private patient care suites to 12 existing suites that opened in September 2005. The Ayer Anderson Wing includes a specialized pediatric care suite for children who require complex pain and symptom management. Care at the Kaplan Family Hospice House is provided through an interdisciplinary team of skilled hospice nurses, social workers, chaplains and hospice aides under the direction of two full time physicians who are board certified in hospice and palliative medicine.

Now more than ever, we are asking for your generous support. Philanthropic contributions provide much of the funding for the expansion of the Kaplan House.
