Dementia Support Program
The Dementia Support Program is a specialized service offered by Hospice of the North Shore to address the unique needs of patients with late-stage dementia and their families. Over the years, Hospice of the North Shore has served thousands of people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Today, patients with various types of dementia make up a significant percentage of the more than 2,000 people Hospice of the North Shore cares for each year. Our goal is to maximize each patient’s comfort and quality of life, using a comprehensive, team-based model. This approach addresses the patient’s physical, cognitive and emotional needs while providing vital, practical support for family and professional caregivers. Our dementia support staff and volunteers receive extensive training and education to support them in meeting the complex needs of patients, families and professional caregivers affected by dementia.
