Tree of Lights

The Hospice of the North Shore (HNS) Tree of Lights ceremonies are a longstanding tradition for many families and part of a new holiday ritual for those families who may have lost loved ones this year. The holidays can be particularly difficult for those who have experienced a loss, and the annual Tree of Lights ceremonies offer a meaningful way to remember loved ones while supporting the HNS mission.

Held in Danvers, Swampscott and Gloucester in early December, more than 700 friends and families joined to witness the tree lightings, each tree adorned with blue, green and white lights representing someone who brought joy to our lives. The tree illuminations were followed by community receptions where attendees could enjoy companionship, refreshments, seasonal music and view their loved ones’ names inscribed in the Honor Roll book.

HNS gratefully acknowledges the continued support and hospitality of Danversbank, the Town of Swampscott, the First Church of Swampscott Congregational and Gloucester Cooperative Bank. We thank all those individuals who volunteered to help make these events meaningful for those who are coping with loss during the holidays.
