Stephanie Patel, MD - Vice President/Chief Medical Officer
Stephanie Patel, MD serves as Hospice of the North Shore’s medical director. Prior to joining Hospice of the North Shore, Dr. Patel was the hospice medical director and palliative care physician for Fairview Health Services, a teaching hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fairview is one of six nationally recognized Palliative Care Leadership Centers, which provide training and mentoring for other palliative care programs.
Board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr. Patel completed a Palliative Medicine Fellowship at the Good Samaritan Hospital/VA Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, she is board-certified in Family Medicine and worked as a family practice physician in California. A graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, she earned her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Louise A. DePodesta, MD – Physician Associate
Louise A. DePodesta serves as a Physician Associate for Hospice of the North Shore. With 25 years of medical experience, Dr. Depodesta helps to evaluate and manage palliative and end-of-life care.
Board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr. DePodesta completed a Hospice and Palliative Care fellowship with Connecticut Hospice. In addition, she is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and worked in private practice in Maryland. A graduate of Allegheny College, she earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Dr. Lisa Rome – Staff Physician
Dr. Lisa Rome joined Hospice of the North Shore as a Palliative Care Physician. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Rome has an extensive background in pain management and end of life care. Previously, Dr. Rome was an Attending Physician in Oncology/Hematology at VA Connecticut Healthcare System for many years. She also was a Consultant of The Connecticut Hospice, Inc. and a Clinical Instructor in Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Rome obtained a bachelors and masters in child study at Tufts University and graduated from Albany Medical College. She completed an internal medicine residency at George Washington University Hospital and a medical oncology/hematology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine. She is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine.
