Through the years, HNS has continually responded with innovation to keep its promise of compassionate end-of-life care for everyone on the North Shore. For example, to help people who could no longer remain at home, HNS developed dedicated hospice suites at two local hospitals and collaborated with more than 44 long-term care facilities to ensure patients would have access to the hospice approach to care in those settings. In September 2005, HNS opened the Kaplan Family Hospice House, the only hospice house on the North Shore and the first in the state to be licensed to provide the inpatient level of care, adding another option for compassionate end-of-life care for patients and families.

It is our dedication to continually improving end-of-life care for everyone on the North Shore that has made us a leader in hospice care in Massachusetts as well as New England. 

Because our sole focus is end-of-life and palliative care, we work every day to help more people access care and gain the support they deserve for one of the most challenging times in their lives. Our efforts will continue to evolve as the needs of the communities we serve change.
